Read a short text in your target language — a few sentences from a beginner reader, a simple picture book, a short article, or even a comic. Don't stop at every unfamiliar word: read through once for the general idea first, then go back and look up three or four words that keep coming up or that you need to understand the gist. Reading regularly, even just a little, builds vocabulary and a feel for how sentences are put together in a way that flashcards alone can't. This one is a self-directed activity, not a quiz — so there are no questions to answer on screen. After reading, jot down (or tell a parent) what the text was about in your own words, plus the three or four new words you looked up. Mark this complete once you've done your reading and noted your new words.
Example
Reading a simple recipe in your target language, you might not know every word, but you can guess from context and pictures that it's about cooking — then look up the two or three ingredient words you didn't recognise.
