The Arts · Year 8
This one is a create-and-perform activity, not a quiz — so there are no questions to answer on screen. Choreograph a short dance sequence (30-60 seconds) built from a single movement phrase, then develop it using at least one choreographic device — repetition, retrograde, canon (if performing with others) or unison. Start by creating a simple 8-count phrase that expresses an idea, feeling or story, then apply your chosen device to extend and vary it into a fuller sequence. Rehearse your sequence, then perform it for a family member, explaining which choreographic device you used and why. Mark this complete once you've performed your sequence and explained your choices.
Example
A student choreographing a phrase about 'waking up slowly' might create a stretching, unfolding 8-count movement, then use retrograde to perform it forwards then backwards, creating a sense of the body waking and then settling again — using the device deliberately to reflect the emotional arc of the idea.
