This one is a create-and-edit activity, not a quiz — so there are no questions to answer on screen. Write a short story of your own (roughly 300-500 words). Choose one clear idea to explore — a decision, a discovery, a change — and experiment deliberately with at least one language feature or literary device you've been learning about (a metaphor, varied sentence lengths, dialogue that reveals character, an unexpected structure). Once you have a first draft, edit it: read it aloud to catch awkward sentences, check whether your opening hooks a reader, and see if you can cut any words that aren't earning their place. Mark this complete once you've written and edited your story.
Example
A student experimenting with sentence length for effect might write a calm opening in longer, flowing sentences, then switch to short, fragmented sentences the moment their character notices something is wrong — deliberately using structure to control the story's pace and tension.
