Languages · Year 8
This one is a self-directed speaking activity, not a quiz — so there are no questions to answer on screen. Have a conversation in your target language that lasts at least 8-10 exchanges (a back-and-forth of that many turns, not just one question and one answer). Prepare a topic in advance — your weekend plans, a favourite hobby, a recent trip — and practise a few useful "keep the conversation going" phrases beforehand, like asking someone to repeat something, or saying you're not sure how to say something and trying a different way. Afterwards, reflect: where did the conversation flow naturally, and where did you get stuck? Mark this complete once you've had your conversation and reflected on it.
Example
Instead of stopping after "What did you do on the weekend?" / "I went to the beach," a longer conversation keeps going: "Oh nice, was it hot?" / "Yes, very hot" / "Did you swim?" — each response becomes a new question, stretching a simple exchange into a genuine back-and-forth conversation.
Key terms
This topic is self-directed and doesn't have quiz questions.
